Each registered domain name has a minimum of 2 Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain name to the servers of a particular hosting provider. That way, you have got both your website and your e-mails handled by the very same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there is a variety of other records, for example A and MX. The former reveals which server deals with the site for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server deals with the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, any time you enter a domain address in your Internet browser, your request is forwarded through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you could be directed to the servers of another provider if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having separate records for the website and the emails means that you may have your website and your emails with two different providers if you would like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every shared plan which we provide, will enable you to view, change and set up A and MX records for each domain name or subdomain within your account. Through the DNS Records section, you will be able to see a list of all hosts in the account from a to z with their related records, so any update won't take you more than a few mouse clicks. Creating new records is as simple if, for example, you want to use the e-mail services of another company and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2. Additionally you can set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it'll contact the next one. Using our advanced tool, you're going to be able to control the records of your domain addresses and subdomains effortlessly even if you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any one of your domains or subdomains is incredibly easy if you buy a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are handled via our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which includes a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domain addresses. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you can click on any of them to see both the A and the MX records. Modifying any record is as easy as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even though you may have never dealt with such matters before, you simply won't experience any troubles if you decide to direct your website or e-mails to another service provider while keeping the second service with our company. If necessary, you could also create additional MX records and set a certain priority based on the recommendations of the new provider.
