SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail protection system, that is designed to verify if an e-mail message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a given domain name will stop the counterfeiting of email addresses made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain name creates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send e-mails from mail boxes using the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it will exist on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time a new email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses verifies if it comes from an authorized server. When it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, yet when it doesn't come from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will be able to mask an email address then make it look as if you are sending spam messages. This technique is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

You can activate the SPF protection option for your domains with a couple of clicks in the Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with all our shared plans. This is performed through the section with the same name and you're able to set up the protection for each domain part of our modern cloud platform. Using a very simple interface, all you'll need to type in is the hostname of the mail server that will be approved to send messages from your e-mail addresses and its IPv4 or IPv6 address. Last, but not least, you are able to add several servers as well, when needed. When your e-mails are taken care of by us, you may also use an even more risk-free option by putting a restriction that e-mail messages can be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. This alternative cannot be used in case your site is hosted here, and the e-mail addresses are with some third-party supplier. Either way, the SPF protection option can really enhance your online security and stop others from counterfeiting your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with all of our semi-dedicated plans, provides you with an incredibly easy-to-use interface to activate the SPF security service for each domain that you host in your new account. Several clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be permitted to send messages from your emails. If the e-mail messages are managed on our end and not by another supplier, you will be able to raise the protection level even more and enable an option for the outgoing email messages to be sent only if your domains feature our MX records. This option provides you with more control and it'll eliminate any possibility of somebody forging your e-mails with the objective of spamming and scamming people. It's not applicable when only your web site is hosted on our state-of-the-art cloud web hosting platform, while your emails are managed by a different provider. If you aren't sure what features to choose, our tech support staff will assist you 24/7.
